Some events exist to mark an occasion. The MERI Donor Celebration & Appreciation on September, 25,2023 exited for something quieter and more personal; to sit with gratitude, and to make sure the families of Genesis donors knew without any ambiguity how much their loved ones’ gift had meant over the past year.

By 2022, the world had spent two years navigating the disruption of a global pandemic. Medical training had been tested in ways no one anticipated. The professionals who showed up to care for patients leaned heavily on the foundational skills built through hands-on education. Events like this one served as a reminder of where so much of that training begins: with a donor’s quiet, generous yes.

The 2022 celebration honored the donors whose gifts supported MERI’s Memphis facility in the preceding twelve months and the families who carried their wishes forward. It was an afternoon ground not in formality, but in genuine acknowledgment of sacrifice, of trust, and of the impact that begins the moment a family chooses to give.
